All too often we spend time in our head dwelling on the past or worrying about the future. This way of thinking often causes anxiety and/or depression.
'Mindfulness is awareness that arises through paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment, non-judgementally,” - Jon Kabat-Zinn.
Mindfulness is a way of life that begins with the cultivation of mindfulness meditation. This helps you to learn to pay attention, moment by moment, with kindness and curiosity to what is happening (or not) in your body, mind and environment so you can begin to make choices about whether or not to respond to these. Thereby, stepping out of 'automatic pilot'. Meditation practice allows you to see how certain patterns of thinking can lead to escalation of emotions and mindfulness provides tools to help step off this cycle and to develop different ways of coping.
